I CAN DO THAT FAST
 
For the year 2020, the Mount Pisgah Church family has embraced the theme, Living By Faith. We believe that what we believe serves as the basis for how we live as we place our complete trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. In keeping with this conviction, we will fast beginning on April 19, 2020. It is the I Can Do That Fast, based on the Apostle Paul’s declaration in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” In the immediate context, Paul refers to being blessed to handle any situation that he faced. In application, it reminds us that Christ enables us to do things beyond what we have done. In the spirit of the fast, there some things that we can do, including, pray more, study the Word of God more, grow more in Christ, give more, be more faithful to God and the church, be more loving to others. The fast will be in two parts, a twenty-one-day fast and a ten-day fast and will be cumulative, which means that each week we will add to the things that we will not eat for the remainder of each fast.
Those who are not medically able to fast should consider giving up something significant for the corresponding times. Examples include television, social media, and shopping for nonessentials.
 
                                               21-Day Fast
April 19 – April 25, 2020 – beef, pork, white flour and sugar – no food for the first six hours
April 26 – May 2, 2020 – fish – no food for the first nine hours
May 3 – May 9, 2020 – chicken – no food for the first twelve hours
 
                                               10-Day Fast
May 21 – May 30, 2020 – nothing but fruits and vegetables, including nuts – no food for the first six hours on May 21-23; no food for the first nine hours on May 24-26, no food for the first 12 hours on May 27-30.
