Bishop & Mrs. Reginald S. Hinton, Sr.

 

Bishop Reginald S. Hinton was born on August 29, 1955 in Apex NC to the late Carlyle and Clarine Woodard Hinton.  He attended public school in Wake County and graduated from Cary Senior High School in 1973.  He graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, in August 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  He was joined in holy matrimony to his love, Janet McClain on June 10, 1978 and has one son Reginald S. Hinton, Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Ebony Angel Hinton.  He served under the ministry of his spiritual father, the late Elijah Newkirk and was nurtured by his spiritual mother Elder Effie Harris, his spiritual aunt Elder Rosie Burt and teacher Bishop O.L. Conyers.  He answered the call into the ministry in August 1981 and preached his initial sermon at St. Mary’s Church on October 18, 1981.  On December 27, 1981, he began serving as the preacher for the Mount Pisgah Harnett YPCL, preaching on each fourth Sunday.  In July 1982, he was elected as the pastor of the church under the leadership of Bishop Henry McLean.  In November 1986, he was elected Second Vice Bishop and on May 25, 2002, he was consecrated to the office of Bishop for the Cape Fear and Southwestern Annual Conference.  He has retired from the North Carolina Department of Revenue and is currently in his 33rd  year as Pastor of Mount Pisgah Harnett OFWB Church.

Elect-Lady Janet L. McClain Hinton was born to Carl and the late Thelma Harris McClain in Raleigh, NC on December 9, 1955.  She spent her adolescent years in Holly Springs, NC and attended public schools in Wake County, graduating from Cary Senior High School in 1974.  She attended St. Augustine’s College, Raleigh, NC after high school and graduated from ECPI in Raleigh, NC.  She was joined in holy matrimony to Reginald S. Hinton, Sr. on June 10, 1978, at St. Mary’s Free Will Baptist Church, with the late Elder Elijah Newkirk officiating.  On July 19, 1979 Elect-Lady and her husband were blessed with their son, Reginald S. Hinton, Jr; they were blessed to witness his initial sermon on October 30, 2005 at St. Mary’s Church.  For the past 30 years, she has been a vital part of her husband’s ministry around North Carolina, as well as in other states along the Eastern seaboard.  She continues to grow in her walk with the Lord and has a great fondness for young people.  Bishop & Mrs. Reginald S. Hinton, Sr. continue to show genuine love for the congregation at Mount Pisgah Harnett and a commitment to be a blessing to the surrounding community.  They currently reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.
